Zero shares Payne's pain
Hicham Zerouali suffered a broken ankle last season
Hicham Zerouali suffered a broken ankle last season
Aberdeen striker Hicham Zerouali is distraught after being involved in a training ground accident which left youth team defender Stephen Payne with a broken ankle.

Moroccan international Zerouali suffered a similar injury last August which brought an abrupt end to his season.

"It was accidental and unfortunate Hicham was involved," said a club spokesman.

"He is understandably upset. Hicham knows exactly how tough it is to cope with a broken ankle."

Full-back Payne, who helped the Dons lift the Scottish Youth Cup last season, will be out for several weeks.

However, there was some good news at Pittodrie after the Dons added young defender Robbie Hedderman to their ranks from Irish club Tolka Rovers.

The 19-year-old youth international impressed during a trial period on the club's pre-season under 18 tour of Holland.
