Three second-half goals save Celtic's blushes as they struggle to subdue underdogs Ayr United in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

Two goals from Alan Thompson and another by Henrik Larsson separated sides a million miles apart in terms of resources and previous achievements.

Fifth round

Aberdeen 0-2 Celtic

Celtic ease into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup after a straightforward victory over Aberdeen, but the holders' night was spoiled slightly by the late sending off of John Hartson.

Goals from Hartson and Stilian Petrov early in each half ensured that Martin O'Neill's side gained revenge for their single league defeat of the season.

Fourth round

Kilmarnock 0-2 Celtic

Henrik Larsson put the tie beyond Kilmarnock
Larsson wrapped up victory for Celtic
In a game held up for 45 minutes because of a blackout at Rugby Park, Celtic produce another solid performance.

Kilmarnock matched the Scottish Cup holders in the first half but the deadlock was broken in the 50th minute when Garry Hay put through his own goal and Henrik Larsson made sure of the result with a well-taken second goal.

Third round

Alloa 0-5 Celtic

Morten Weighorst scored on an emotional return for Celtic

A makeshift Celtic side disposed of Alloa Athletic with ease with Bobo Balde firing home them into an early lead and Morten Wieghorst marking his return with a goal.

Youngster Shaun Malloney added a third before Bobby Petta and Momo Sylla wrapped things up for Martin O'Neill's men.
