By Thomas McGuigan

2205: Thanks for your company and song titles tonight. We're back on Saturday for more SPL action; hope you can join us then. Cheers.

2200: Atletico Madrid and Udinese are joint top of Group I on seven points; with Celtic now on five and Rennes on two. Celtic host Atletico in their next Europa League fixture on Wednesday 30 November. Will tonight's win reignite Celtic's season?

2156: "I thought Samaras was outstanding tonight: his attitude, his workrate and his setting up for the third goal."
BBC Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod

2154: Celtic manager Neil Lennon makes his way onto the pitch to shake hands with his players; they weathered a few Rennes storms and displayed a clinical touch in front of goal after a nervy opening half-hour.

Full time

2152: Dan Majstorovic hoofs clear a high ball into the Celtic penalty area and Rennes look to have run out of steam.

2151: We're into the first of two minutes of added time.

2150: MonkJammas tweets: "May have to eat my words about Samaras: he's had a good game and got two good assists."

2148: Tempers are beginning to fray as Vincent Pajot earns a yellow card for a sliding challenge on Anthony Stokes that clearly irks the Irishman.

Red card
2146: RED CARD It goes from bad to worse for Rennes as their playmaker Yann M'Vila receives a second yellow for a foul on Kris Commons and makes the long walk down the tunnel.

Celtic goal: The hosts extend their lead with a clinical move: Gary Hooper plays a one two with Anthony Stokes before haring into the penalty area. He controls Stokes's low cross brilliantly before stabbing the ball past Benoit Costil.

2141: Celtic are finding it difficult to retain possession for any length of time and the pattern of this game is similar to the Udinese game, when the Italians scored a late, late equaliser. Can Celtic hold on to secure victory this time?

2139: Neil Lennon sends on Gary Hooper for the tiring James Forrest in an effort to bolster his attack in the closing stages.

2138: Forster denies Rennes substitute Hadji again, this time after the Moroccan's header appeared destined for the bottom corner...

2137: Celtic keeper Fraser Forster tips over Hadji's wicked effort from the edge of the area and the French are turning the screw here.

2135: Another chance for Rennes but better defending from Celtic as Cha deflects Pitroipa's effort over for a French corner. But Celtic hoof it clear; just over 15 minutes remaining.

2133: The galloping Greek careers through a couple of Rennes challenges before spreading the ball wide to Forrest. The ball eventually finds its way to the impressive Victor Wanyama but the midfielder can't get a shot on target. Decent build up from Celtic but it fizzled out on the 18-yard box.

2131: Georgios Samaras and Vincent Pajot tussle for possession deep inside Rennes territory and the big Greek is certainly putting himself about tonight...

2129: Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster sends a ball high into the Glasgow night sky but it falls on a Rennes head and the visitors clear. Hadji comes on for Feret as the French outfit make their final substitution.

2128: About 24 minutes remaining of this intriguing contest. With Atletico Madrid now leading Udinese 4-0, neither side at Celtic Park can afford to slip up. It's Celtic 2-1 Rennes.

2126: Kris Commons, minus the neck brace and bandages he sported during his humorous take on rumours of a dressing room bust-up, comes on for Paddy McCourt.

2124: Celtic, pressing for a third goal to extend their lead, go close through Victor Wanyama's 25-yard effort after good work by Georgios Samaras.

2122: Paddy McCourt tries to thread a ball through to Anthony Stokes but it's too heavy and Benoit Costil gathers comfortably. Mandjeck appears to indulge in a naughty studs down the back of McCourt's heel but it's missed by referee Bruno Miguel Duarte Paixao.

2120: What a miss from Rennes! Another free-kick into the box sees substitute Montano rise unchallenged in the box but he bullets a header over the bar with Fraser Forster stranded. Celtic's zonal marking once again looking far from convincing.

2117: Clyde_Derek tweets: "My pre-match prediction and 66/1 bet is looking good. Celtic 3 Rennes 3. Who knows?" My mate won a tidy sum at the weekend after correctly predicting seven results. I'm half expecting to see him wearing top hat, tail and spats next time we meet...

CPS:EVENT>2115: Celtic are pressing their French opponents with increasing effectiveness but Rennes continue to look dangerous on the counter; particularly down the flanks.

2114: Ouch! Adam Matthews and Jonathan Pitroipa suffer a nasty clash of heads but neither player loses their false teeth and, after a short delay, we're back up and running.

2113: Theophile Catherine pickpockets Beram Kayal, triggering howls of dismay from the Celtic fans, but the visitors can't get an effort on goal.

2110: Paddy McCourt embarks on a Pro-Evolution Soccer style mazy dribble down the left and it takes a couple of Rennes players to extinguish the threat. McCourt certainly offers something a bit different to Celtic on the attack.

2109: Adam Matthews scampers down the left as Celtic look to carve out another opportunity but his run is cut short by a sea of Rennes jerseys. Good open start to the second half and you get the feeling there's more goals in this game...

2106: The second half gets under way. Marcus Fraser has come on for the injured Glenn Loovens, while Rennes introduce Doumbia and Montano for Tettey and Boukhari respectively.

2104: DeclanLeeds tweets: "It's not pretty but boy it is exciting. The first half flew by. Come on you bhoys in green!"

2054: Putting the Europa League action to one side for a moment; we have another couple of crackers for the contender of best Rennes song title of the night. SBJBlair offers: "How about The Who classic to warm us up at HT, Rennes o'er me?" and Pluto chimes in with Prince's Purple Rennes. Great work!

2052: Credit where it's due, I don't think many of us would've envisaged that half-time scoreline. Despite Rennes looking menacing on the counter-attack, it's Celtic who bare their teeth to come from behind and lead at the break. Will that change the respective team-talks?

Half time

Celtic goal: Now then. Fraser Forster sends a long punt downfield, Georgios Samaras rises above Mangane to head the ball onto the onrushing Anthony Stokes who arrows a low shot across Benoit Costil and into the right-hand corner of the net. Celtic come from behind to lead in Glasgow.

Yellow card

Yellow card
2044: Rennes dangerman Yann M'Vila earns a yellow card for a foul on James Forrest; the hosts are trying to find a rhythm to their passing as we approach half-time.

2042: Celtic right-back Cha has some of the home fans spluttering on their pie & bovril as he gives up possession cheaply but the French are a little lax this time and fail to profit. Cha's error-strewn displays would make The Pink Panther's Inspector Dreyfuss twitch like a cat in the midday sun!

2041: Make that 3-0 to Atletico now...

2040: A little over 10 minutes of the first half remaining and Celtic Park has shaken itself from its early lethargy. Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, still lead Group I leaders Udinese 2-0.

2039: "It's a much better game now and Celtic are looking a lot sharper. But Rennes are still looking dangerous" BBC Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod

2038: "Thomas, what about 'All I Needed Was The Rennes' - Elvis Presley! Fernando in Cheltenham has texted to 80295.I laughed up a bit of my cup of tea reading that one!

Celtic goal: Suddenly, the home fans have something to cheer as Celtic fashion an equaliser out of nothing. Benoit Costil can only parry James Forrest's daisy-cutter and Anthony Stokes is on hand to hammer the ball home.

2033: Georgios Samaras, showing a nice turn of pace down the left, completely fluffs his lines with a fresh-air attempted pass which just about sums up his recent displays in a Celtic jersey. Oh dear.

2031: NickHood87 asks: "The big question is how long will the Celtic board let this continue?"

2030: Pitroipa sparks another Rennes counter attack after James Forrest and Victor Wanyama get into a pickle on the halfway line. Celtic clear for a corner but the visitors are looking increasingly dangerous on the break...

2028:... But Anthony Stokes sends his free-kick thundering into the French wall and the chance is lost.

2027: Much more like it from Celtic. Paddy McCourt picks the ball up in the centre circle before slaloming past a couple of Rennes challenges. The Northern Ireland international earns a free-kick when he's chopped down by Pitroipa...

2025: Celtic may be struggling for creativity on the pitch but all you armchair music fans out there are storming up the charts with some gems. Kevin in Durham has text 80295 to say: "Why does it always Rennes on me?" by Travis and Steve from Glasgow offers: "Barbara Streisand's Don't Rennes on my Parade" A real high note, keep them coming!

2023: A clumsy challenge by Daniel Majstorovic on Pajot gifts Rennes a free-kick in a dangerous position but Celtic get it clear.

2022: Victor Wanyama and Paddy McCourt trade passes in midfield but Rennes are pressing the home side all over the pitch and Celtic are finding it difficult to penetrate the French rearguard.

Group I update: Atletico Madrid lead group leaders Udinese 2-0 in the Spanish capital.

2019: Celtic get the home fans off their feet as James Forrest feeds Cha down the right and the full-back sends in a dangerous cross, but Rennes repel the danger.

2017: "Celtic again are cutting their own throats."
BBC Sportsound commentator Liam McLeod after Samaras's mis-placed pass lets Rennes mount an attack

2016: Celtic striker Georgios Samaras incurs the wrath of the home fans after surrendering possession cheaply; Rennes break at speed and Pitroipa just can't get a shot on goal.

2015: Conor C in Glasgow texts 80295 to say: "Rennes to the Hills, Iron Maiden. Classic!" Now we're talking, superb!

2012: The Celtic fans and players appear stunned by that early Rennes goal. Wanyama and Kayal have yet to find their feet in this game...

2009: Rennes are playing with a swagger following that early goal and are stroking the ball about in confident fashion. Neil Lennon looks far from happy in the Celtic dugout; his side continue to leak cheap goals.

Rennes goal: The visitors force an early corner from their first foray into Celtic territory. Captain Kader Mangane rises unopposed to meet Julien Feret's corner and send a header into the top left hand corner. Celtic's defensive frailties strike again...

2007: GOAL! CELTIC 0-1 RENNES ( Mangane)

2006: Neil Lennon, not dissimilar to Sir Alex Ferguson, is chewing frantically on some chewing gum, as he takes his place in the home dugout.

2005: We're under way at Celtic Park.

2003: The players are out on the pitch and we're a couple of minutes away from kick-off. MonkJammas isn't happy with Samaras's inclusion. "Whenever Samaras starts for Celtic I expect them to lose. Why Lennon still has faith in him is a complete mystery."

2001: DeclanLeeds tweets: "Let's forget what's already happened and do the business tonight! MON THE HOOPS!"

2000: Dutch defender Glenn Loovens, in the absence of Charlie Mulgrew and Scott Brown, wears the captain's armband for Celtic.

1957: Rab M in Maryhill has text 80295 to say: "Why is Zaliuska on the bench? The defence don't trust Forster, hence nervous mistakes."

1955: Celtic have looked at their most menacing going forward this season when Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper have partnered each other up front. With the former Scunthorpe hitman cooling his heels on the bench, step forward the galloping Greek Georgios Samaras, who is given a chance to shine...

1950: "We no longer have room to make mistakes. We must win in Glasgow to retain hopes of qualifying," Rennes right-back Romain Danze said before tonight's game. Neil Lennon said: "We've got a lot of injuries, but we've still got a decent squad and it's a game we are all looking forward to. "A win would give us a real chance, although it might depend on the Atletico v Udinese result."

1948: We've been chatting in the office about songs which could use Rennes in the title. So far, we've gone for Bros and Rennes Will I Be Famous?; Bruce Springsteen's Born to Rennes and The Charlatans's classic Rennes. Apologies for the puns. Any better ones out there?

1945: I wonder if Cha and Fraser Forster have purged the nightmare memory of THAT goal against Rennes a fortnight ago?

1943: Remember, you can offer your views on the action by tweeting using the hashtag #bbcsportsound or send me a message @thomasmcg76 or via text on 80295.

1941: Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila, who missed the 1-1 draw in France, returns for the visitors tonight. Big things are expected of the the 21-year-old, who already has 15 French caps to his name. He'll be a danger to the Celtic rearguard tonight...

1940: Celtic and Rennes will both be gunning for victory. Both sides have two points from three group games and can't afford any more slip-ups if they want to keep group leaders Udinese (7 points) and Atletico Madrid (4) in their sights.

1936: Joe Ledley and Ki miss out, while out-of-form Gary Hooper drops to the bench. In come Paddy McCourt, Victor Wanyama and Georgios Samaras.

1935: Neil Lennon is forced to once again shuffle his pack because of injury. With defender Mark Wilson out for up to three months following knee surgery and Charlie Mulgrew also sidelined, the back four will comprise: Cha, Majstorovic, Loovens and Matthews.

CELTIC: Forster, Cha, Majstorovic, Loovens, Matthews, Forrest, Wanyama, Kayal, Samaras, McCourt, Stokes. Subs: Zaluska, Commons, McGregor, Chalmers, Fraser, George, Hooper.
RENNES: Costil, Danze, Mangane, Mandjeck, Theophile Catherine, Tettey, M'Vila, Pajot, Pitroipa, Boukhari, Feret. Subs: Diallo, Mavinga, Hadji, Montano, Jebbour, Doumbia, Sane.
Referee: Bruno Miguel Duarte Paixao (Portugal)

1933: Throw in more than a few first-team injuries and Celtic are in need of a European victory to raise their spirits.

1932: Neil Lennon's men don't have their troubles to seek: trailing Rangers by 12 points in the SPL title race and also yet to record their first win in Europa League Group I.

1930: Good evening and welcome to our coverage of Celtic v Rennes in the Europa League.
