By Stevie Miller
2209: Thanks for your company on what's turned out a great evening for Rangers, you can join us online again on Saturday as we return to SPL action.
2159: "Our players did exceptionally well." Rangers manager Walter Smith.
2141: "As a lifelong Celtic supporter - well done Rangers - it's all about Scottish football and you did us proud." Wullie Slavin in Irvine by text to 80295.
2141: It's a welcome boost for Scotland's co-efficient after some poor results for our teams in Europe - next up is Valencia at Ibrox.
2137: Well done to Rangers, a deserved three points at Ibrox leaves Walter Smith's side joint top of Group C with Manchester Utd on four points, with Valencia on three and tonight's visitors Bursaspor with nothing.
2130: Walter Smith makes his first change change of the evening as Kenny Miller makes way for Kyle Lafferty sporting what looks like a grown-in mohican. Perhaps he got confused when Walter Smith told him he was in the A Team this week and went for a BA Baracas look?
2129: Rangers are five minutes away from a terrific three points in the Champions League.
2128: Serbian defender Milan Stepanov blazes a left-footed shot well wide for Bursaspor, then picks up a booking for bringing down Steven Naismith.
2126: Manchester Utd take the lead in Valencia through Mexican striker Javier Hernandez.
2124: Rangers defender Sasa Papac picks up the home side's first booking for a tackle from behind.
2122: The game is getting stretched as Bursaspor go all out in search of a leveller...can Rangers kill the game on the counter?
From bringthemonjpn On My Sport:
"As expected, Rangers drawing the opposition out. Spaces are opening up for both sides, but which one has the pace and lucky wee touch to get the next goal."
2116: Double substitution for the visitors as Ertugrul Saglam goes in search of an equaliser, Pablo Batalla replaced by fellow Argentine Leonel Nunez, and Sercan Y?ld?r?m going off for Turgay Bahad?r.
2114: A close shave for Bursaspor as Kenny Miller chases a long through ball and is fractionally beaten to it by keeper Dimitar Ivankov.
2112: Bursaspor's Volkan Sen is covering every blade of grass at the moment...but he can't find the blade of his razor judging by the phenomenal stubble he's sporting. A few more days and he'll be in to ZZ Top territory.
2108: "David Weir is trying to get his team-mates going again and you wonder if Rangers have ridden out the storm." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Gordon Smith
2105: Just as I type that Volkan Sen has a low left-footed shot from inside the box which Sasa Papac deflects wide for a corner. It's a bit squeaky bum time at Ibrox just now.
2104: Bursaspor are enjoying their best spell of the match so far, but they're yet to carve out any clear opportunities.
2059: Some in the office are reckoning that Bursaspor manager Ertugrul Saglam is a dead ringer for Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg. I can't see it myself though.
2057: Pinball in the Bursaspor box, when the ball finally drops to Maurice Edu the American drags his shot just wide of the post. Another let-off for the Turks.
2052: Sercan Yildirim has his claims for a penalty waved away, as his powerful, low shot from 14 yards smacks off Lee McCulloch's arm. The Rangers midfielder fell into the way of the shot, I would say.
2050: Kenny Miller passes up a great chance to put Rangers two ahead as the Ibrox side start the second half in the same tone as the first. A through ball from Edu put Miller one-on-one with Ivankov, but Miller shot straight at the Bulgarian.
2048: The teams are back out on the pitch, no half-time changes to either side.
2042: Rangers deservedly in front after a good first-half display and the Ibrox crowd will be hoping for more of the same in the next 45 minutes.
HALF-TIME Rangers 1-0 Bursaspor.
2031: It's half-time in the Mestalla and Valencia are drawing 0-0 with Manchester Utd. I think Walter Smith would happily take full-time now.
2028: "When the ball's in the air inside their penalty area Bursaspor are really struggling." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson.
2027: Bursaspor captain Omer Erdogan picks up the first booking of the evening after flattening Rangers striker Kenny Miller.
2024: Commentator's curse strikes again. Ergic, the player I highlighted earlier is substituted being replaced by Federico Insua.
2009: "Get in Naismith! Cracking effort and a great start for the Gers!" From Wee Jimmy by text to 80295.
2008: "They're playing some great stuff. Stevie Naismith is on fire just now." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson.
2007: Lee McCulloch almost doubles Rangers' lead, but his close-range header flashes agonisingly wide of the post. It's all going right for Rangers.
2006: "Rangers have a spring in their step." BBC Scotland commentator Rob Maclean.
2004: Steven Whittaker crosses from the right, Kirk Broadfoot heads the ball back, Steven Naismith cuts in to clip the ball past Ivankov. Simples.
GOAL Rangers 1-0 Bursaspor (Naismith)
2001: "Ally McCoist is out in the technical area screaming at the Rangers players to get the ball into the box to test their goalkeeper." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson
2000: We're hearing reports that some fans are having problems getting into the ground, they've missed some good attacking from Rangers despite the defensive-looking formation.
1958: Bursa keeper Ivankov flaps at a corner, but Madjid Bougherra's drive is blocked. Rangers have started brightly.
1956:First sight of goal for the Turkish side, but Argentine midfielder Pablo Batalla puts his 20-yard shot well wide.
1952: Text to 80295. "It's a bit disappointing that the mighty Glasgow Rangers can't sell out a Champions league game." An anonymous Aberdeen fan is enjoying seeing some empty seats at Ibrox.
1952: Good play from Rangers and a bit of slick passing. Corner kick and a chance to load up players in the box." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson
1950: First chance of the game, and it falls to Rangers, American midfielder Maurice Edu's left-footed strike is deflected wide.
1948:An injury scare in first few minutes, Sasa Papac and Bursaspor no.10 Volkan Sen collide, but both carry on after a few hobbling steps.
1946: Stat fans alert! Rangers' last Champions League win was against Lyon on 2 October 2007. The scorers were McCulloch, Cousin and Beasley.
1945: And we're off...Bursaspor get the game underway.
From mountainview-motel On My Sport:
To all the merchants of doom and gloom regarding the line-up. Is it not possible that a 5-4-1 could easily become a 4-4-2 with either Whittaker or Broadfoot taking up a midfield role? How about supporting your team? and Scottish football?
1941: The teams emerge from the tunnel at Ibrox to be met with a phenomenal roar, lets hope the match lives up to the entry.
1938:The other game in Group C tonight is in the Mestalla Stadium as Valencia take on Manchester Utd - a win for the Spaniards matched by a home win at Ibrox would see Valencia and Rangers in pole position for reaching the latter stages.
1932: Brian Crosland in Penicuik has texted 80295: "Glasgow Rangers have made Scottish football a laughing stock in Europe. Five at the back at home? It is embarrassing." Walter Smith's tactics don't seem to be pleasing all the fans.
1926: Tonight is the second occasion that Bursaspor have faced Scottish opposition in Europe. In season 1974-5 they defeated Dundee Utd 1-0 on aggregate the second round of the now-defunct Cup-Winners Cup.
1922: A key man for Bursaspor is Serbian midfielder Ivan Ergic, who once faced Celtic while playing for Swiss side FC Basle, and who was a great free signing in Championship Manager 03-04.
1914: "I would expect them to play a 4-2-3-1. We're going to do our best to go out and win the game. It's the same formation as Manchester. We know we can win it." Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist
1911: Bursaspor being nicknamed the Green Crocodiles got me thinking, could we come up with an entire zoo of football teams? Norwich City are the Canaries and I'm sure Bohemians of Prague are the Kangaroos...any more we can add to the menagerie?
1906: A few wee facts about Rangers' opponents tonight. They come from the city of Bursa, Turkey's fourth largest city with a population of 1.8m people, Bulgarian goalkeeper Dimitar Ivankov has scored 42 goals and Bursaspor's nickname is the Green Crocodiles...let's hope there's no bite in the tackles then.
