A bullet header from Garry Kenneth in the fourth minute of stoppage time rescued a point for Dundee United.

Hamilton Accies appeared to have weather a United storm after Mickael Antoine-Curier had shot the visitors into a deserved lead on 65 minutes.

Accies' Marco Paixao had earlier blazed over an open goal from 10 yards and hit the crossbar from long range.

Antoine-Curier scored amid offside claims but Kenneth had the last say after United twice hit the woodwork.

Kenneth's late intervention spared Craig Levein's men back-to-back home defeats and denied the Accies a rare success on their travels.

After a sluggish start, Morgaro Gomis' swerving 25-yard shot produced an uncomfortable-looking parry from Accies keeper Tomas Cerny.

Jennison Myrie-Williams, making his first SPL start, should have hit the target when well placed 10 yards out but the summer signing blazed over.

Antoine-Curier, who was loudly booed since he is on loan from Dundee, saw his goalbound header from a Richard Hastings blocked.

And the final kick of the first half saw Paixao shoot wildly over a glaring target from 10 yards.

After the interval the Portuguese forward came close to making amends when his audacious 35-yard free-kick dipped onto the crossbar after Nicky Weaver had strayed too far off his line.

Midway through the second period the visitors went ahead under controversial circumstances.

Claiming offside, United stopped playing as James McArthur chipped a ball through to Antoine-Curier, who hesitated for a second before slotting past a bewildered Weaver to a chorus of angry jeers.

The home side furiously protested to no avail but spurred on by a sense of injustice the home side came roaring back into the game.

United were desperately unlucky with two minutes left when Damian Casalinuovo headed against the post and Darren Dods smashed his follow-up against the crossbar.

Kevin Fotheringham's drive was inches wide in stoppage-time before Casalinuovo's 93rd-minute cross was met by a brilliant running header from Kenneth.

Dundee United manager Craig Levein:
"I'd like to take full points in every home match and I thought we deserved to win the game on chances.

"But we had 11 players unavailable and when we're going through a period like this we have to just hang in there.

"We did that and we got a point out a game that we could have easily lost.

"We didn't flow as we usually do, we didn't pass the ball as well and, all things considered, it's not a bad point."

Hamilton manager Billy Reid:
"To lose a goal in the 93rd minute is really devastating for our players.

"We came here last season and were within 30 seconds of a win and we had five minutes of injury time again.

"I thought most of the game was fairly even, with two teams really going for it in a hard battle.

"After we got the goal United made changes and they bang the ball back-to-front and make it really hard for you."
