Hamilton   2 - 0   Hibernian

Highlights: Hamilton v Hibernian

Highlights: Hamilton v Hibernian

Mickael Antoine-Curier scored on his debut as Hamilton picked up their first Scottish Premier League points of the season with victory over Hibs.

The hosts were rewarded for a bright start when Simon Mensing scored from the spot after Colin Nish's handball.

Antoine-Curier volleyed home the second from Mensing's pass after 12 minutes as they banished their early-season blues.

Hamilton keeper Tomas Cerny saved a Derek Riordan penalty and Nish was sent off late-on to compound Hibs' agony.

Billy Reid's side started the game rooted to the bottom of the table after shipping 10 goals in three consecutive SPL games, but began with real menace.

And it was no surprise when they took the lead following an impressive opening at New Douglas Park.

Nish handled in the box and Mensing despatched the ball past Graham Stack from the spot after nine minutes.

Hamilton doubled their lead soon after when Mensing turned provider to feed Antoine-Curier, and the on-loan Dundee striker rifled the ball home against his old club.

John Hughes's side were surprisingly poor throughout and their three-man strikeforce of Riordan, Nish and Anthony Stokes failed to ignite.

Hibs eventually forced Cerny into a comfortable save from Paul Hanlon's shot in the second half.

With 12 minutes remaining the visitors were thrown a lifeline when Trent McClenahan handled in the box.

But Cerny brilliantly parried Riordan's penalty and thwarted Nish as the Hibs striker looked odds-on to reduce the deficit.

Nish, who had been booked in the 83rd minute for a foul on Martin Canning, was given his marching orders for a for an aerial challenge on McLaughlin.

Hamilton manager Billy Reid:

"I said after the Rangers game that I thought there was a slight improvement, but today we had most of our players back fit.

"I thought over the full 90 minutes we controlled the game, scored a couple of good goals and our shape was fantastic. We didn't let Hibs get in behind.

"I don't think anybody could deny we deserved the full points.

"It was a team performance, capped off with Tomas Cerny at the end with a fantastic double-penalty save."

Hibernian manager John Hughes:

"We didn't turn up. I said they would have to come here and work.

"I picked my team and made sure I had some physical stuff in there, but we were second-best.

"Hamilton deserved to win the football match, which is disappointing for us.

"If we want to go where we want to go, the boys are going to have to do better than that.

"You're working with egos - guys who think they're better than they are. For me, it's a recipe for disaster.

"You have to play as an underdog, and anything you get you battle for.

"I need to get that right throughout my team. If I get that, I can take getting beat."
