By David Sharp

1710: The day has disappeared again like wild horses over a hill. And what a day it was! Time for a cold drink. Thanks again for all your chat. Bye for now!

1705: "Hibs win away for a change. And it gets better, with Hearts losing at home. That puts us above them in the league and we play them next. Bring them on!" Macker100 on My Sport Join the debate

1703: "Aberdeen must be in real danger of going down this year." KillieJimbo SOFBTRC on My Sport Join the debate

1700: "13 goals so far in 4 games this week. 23 goals in 6 games last week. Aye, what a dour league this is eh?" krisbairn06 on My Sport Join the debate

Well said Kris! Following some woeful showings in Europe this season, Scottish club football has been getting a torrent of pelters of late for being, allegedly, well, guff. Which is quite depressing really. So, it's nice to celebrate the positives for a change.

1657: Celtic go top of the SPL on goal difference. Rivals Rangers travel to St Mirren on Sunday.

Killie and Hibs leapfrog Hearts and Inverness CT after their fine wins on the road. Killie soar to the giddy heights of third spot, tucked in nicely behind the Old Firm.

Hibs are now sitting pretty in fourth, a single goal behind Jim Jefferies' coupon-busters. Killie were a lot of people's pick for relegation at the start of the season...

1656: "That's great - on the predictor I had Celtic to win 3-0, Aberdeen and Hibs to draw 1-1 and United to win 2-0 but all of them score in the last 10 minutes!" FloridaGer on My Sport Join the debate

I feel your pain FloridaGer (see 1654)...

1655: Stocky Celtic striker Scott McDonald answered the critics who have been slagging him off for carrying too much timber by 'weighing' in with a terrific goal at Celtic Park. And Aiden McGeady was back to his electric best.

In saying that, Hamilton played at times like they were wading through a Mississippi swamp on buffalo tranquilisers...

1654: "What was that you were saying this afternoon Sharpy? Four home wins? Think you got that slightly wrong." Macker100 on My Sport Join the debate

Thanks for pointing that out Macker100! Cheers mate! I did predict four home wins today (see 1436)...but I have no track record as a tipster...and, anyway, in my defence, it's nigh-on impossible to predict the outcome of SPL games...erm, ok, I'm gibbering now...

1653: Five games in a row without a win for Aberdeen. Four on the trot at home. Fortress Pittodrie has turned into a happy hunting ground for, well, just about everyone.

1652: Full-time everywhere. Celtic triumph 4-0, Killie record a superb away victory at Hearts and Hibs notch a similarly impressive win at Pittodrie.

1650: Killie are living dangerously at Tynecastle. Laryea Kingston blows the chance to snatch a late equaliser and the Ayrshire men cling on by their fingernails.

1649: Indeed, Caley Thistle profited from a Lee Wilkie injury time own goal. But it was too little too late for Craig Brewster's men, who were outplayed by a vibrant Dundee United at Tannadice. At least they were vibrant in the second-half after a slothful opening 45...

1648: Full-time at Tannadice. United hold on to win 2-1. Four wins on the bounce for Craig Levein's men.

1646: There's been a goal for Inverness CT at Tannadice but I'm not sure who scored it yet. Maybe Gary Wood or maybe a Lee Wilkie own goal?! Our man in Dundee, Jim Spence is adjusting his bifocals as I speak...

1642: Goal! Celtic 4-0 Hamilton. Shaun Maloney, who came on as a sub for earlier sub Georgios Samaras (I know, it's a tad confusing!), mesmerises the Hamilton defence, ties them in knots with some fleet-footed jiggery-pokery and lays the ball on a silver salver for Aiden McGeady to finish from close range. Marvellous stuff from Maloney. Like something out of a cartoon.

1641: Goal! Hearts 1-2 Kilmarnock. The visitors look to have nicked the points late on after Craig Bryson slots home a neat shot from 16 yards.

1640: "Justice has been done. Penalty. And it was definitely a penalty converted by that boy Riordan." Macker100 on My Sport Join the debate

Touche Macker100! Great performance from Riordan today, tainted only by the shocking white Ian-Poulter-style golf polo neck he's wearing underneath his strip...

1639: Goal! Aberdeen 1-2 Hibernian. Ten minutes to go and Derek Riordan slots home from the spot.

1638: Double save from Artur Boruc. James McArthur'sspot kick is pawed away by the Celtic keeper and McArthur leaps on the rebound but his header is batted away. Sums up Hamilton's day. Boruc holds his hands aloft to celebrate in comedy fashion.

1636: Penalty for Hamilton. Gary Caldwell fells James McCarthy in the box. Consolation opportunity for Hamilton.

1635: Penalty for Hibernian. Charlie Mulgrew stops Fletcher's goal-bound effort on the line and he's red-carded for a deliberate hand-ball

1634: Goal! Celtic 3-0 Hamilton Accies. Game over. Well, really over now. Scott McDonald uses his strength to outmuscle, what appears to be the entire Hamilton defence. He scrabbles to win the ball and spins past several flailing challenges in the box to tuck the ball neatly under Cerny.

1632: "This kind of inconsistency is rife, all too often penalties are given and no action is taken on the penalised player. Likewise when penalties are not given, players are rarely booked for diving!" wemyssbayarab SOFBTRC on My Sport Join the debate

The debate over Aberdeen's equaliser rages on...

1631: Inverness sub Adam Rooney is just on the park and slots the ball into the net, only to see the linesman waving his flag...

1625: Chris Maguire replaces Darren Mackie as Aberdeen try a different combination in attack. This elusive first home SPL win continues to elude them...can Maguire be Dons' hero? He's got 25 minutes to conjure some magic...

1623: Langfield gets down well to save Fletcher's 20-yard strike. Close again for Hibs...but still no cigar for either side.

1622: "Dundee United look like a side who are capable of going off on a serious run sometime soon. ie now!"
BBC Radio Scotland's Jim Spence

1621: Goal! Dundee United 2-0 Inverness CT. United double their lead through Lee Wilkie. The towering defender bullets a header in off the underside of Michael Fraser's crossbar.

1618: Hearts waste a great chance, with Laryea Kingston steering a Jason Thomson delivery over the crossbar from eight yards.

1616: It's still tied at one-all at Pittodrie. Aberdeen are dominating possession but have yet to seriously trouble Hibs gangly keeper Yves Ma-Kalambay in the second half.

1615: Having said that Hamilton have just troubled Artur Boruc twice in quick succession, which is twice more than they did in the opening 45. Close

1614: Celtic and Hamilton have played each other 97 times. Hamilton have only won nine of those. I can't see them making double figures at Celtic Park today.

1612: "Mike McCurry has never been to any school teaching any kind of refereeing... If it was a penalty then surely Bamba should have walked?" afcmontana on My Sport Join the debate

Well, it was a penalty, if only because the ref gave it...but good point afc montana - should Bamba have been sent for an early bath?

1610: Hamilton's Brian Easton has a rush of blood to the head and forgets which way he's shooting! He meets a cross from McGeady flush on the volley but thankfully for the defender the ball flies inches wide of Cerny's post.

1605: Dundee United striker Francisco Sandaza heads inches wide from a lovely Craig Conway cross.

1604: Hamilton boss Billy Reid has made two changes at the break. Chris Swailes is replaced by Mark Corcoran while Steven Ettien is on for Derek Lyle.

1602: "Mike McCurry must have been to the Mike Riley school of refereeing. That was never a penalty." Macker100 on My Sport Join the debate

1600: I'm back in the saddle!

1552: I'm taking a wee break before things get underway again. A Kit-Kat is plucked from my haversack and a can of pop is popped...see you all again at 1600!

1551: "Riordan the goal machine strikes again. That's what we have been missing." Macker100 on My Sport Join the debate

1550: "Come on, Hamilton! Today's the day to show off your academic credentials. No need to be diplomaTIC to any degree just take your game to a new level & show you've graduated to the big league." mckenzdo on My Sport Join the debate

Have you been reading Chick Young's blog again mckenzdo?!

1547: Half-time all over the country. Time for a can of pop and a biscuit.

1545: McGeady squanders a great chance to put Celtic out of sight. The winger tried to pass the ball into the net and Cerny flings out an arm and stops the ball. Too casual from McGeady.

1542: Fletcher will rue missing that great chance to double Hibs' lead moments before the controversial penalty.

1541: Goal! Aberdeen 1-1 Hibs. A slick finish from 12 yards by Lee Miller who sends Ma-Kalambay the wrong way.

1540: Penalty for Aberdeen. Bamba is deemed to have fouled Lee Miller. Seemed a tad innocuous - the players ran across each other and collided - but Mike McCurry waves away Hibs' protests and points to the spot.

1539: Steven Fletcher blazes the ball high over the Dons' bar.

1539: Goal! Dundee United 1-0 Inverness CT. An Irish combination at Tannadice as Jon Daly rises highest to head in a Sean Dillon cross.

1538: Goal! Celtic 2-0 Hamilton. Nakamura sets up Georgios Samaras for his 10th goal of the season. Double-figures already for the big Greek. Is he about to embark on a Marco-Negri-esque spree? Gordon Strachan should ban him from any squash ladders...

1536: The last time Hibs won at Pittodrie was in 2006 and Riordan scored the only goal in a 1-0 win. A good omen for the Hibees...

1534: Scott McDonald flashes a snap shot off the Hamilton woodwork.

1533: Goal! Hearts 1-1 Kilmarnock. Michael Stewart's initial strike is blocked and Laryea Kingston pounces to draw Hearts level.

1531: Goal! Aberdeen 0-1 Hibs. The visitors take the lead. And it's that man Derek Riordan. He rounds Jamie Langfield and strokes the ball into an empty net. Colin Nish bullied Lee Mair into inexplicably passing the ball back to his keeper and Riordan stole in brilliantly. Disaster for Mair. Night-mair even...

1529: "Kilmarnock are really doing well and controlling the midfield. The home crowd have gone very quiet."
BBC Radio Scotland summariser Billy Dodds at Tynecastle

1528: After holding out fairly comfortably for the first half hour, Hamilton's defence went to sleep there and Nakamura punished them with a clinical finish.

1527: Goal! Celtic 1-0 Hamilton. Aiden McGeady's probing cross to the back post bounces nicely for Shunsuke Nakamura who rifles the ball high past Cerny.

1526: "The frustration is starting to get to the Aberdeen supporters. It's certainly getting to the Aberdeen technical area."
BBC Radio Scotland commentator Scott Davie

1525: Nothing to report from Tannadice so far. Even the normally effusive Jim Spence has been rendered mute by the apparently limp, goalless affair.

1524: Great jinky wing play by Lewis Stevenson who tees up Riordan in the box but Hibs' prodigal striker drags his angled shot wide from six yards.

1521: Killie took an early lead last week against Inverness CT and wound up getting cuffed 3-1. Will they fare better today at Tynecastle? Join the debate

1519: Goal! Hearts 0-1 Kilmarnock. Twenty-five-yard direct free-kick by Mehdi Taouil billows the Hearts rigging and Killie take the lead after 19 minutes.

1517: Laryea Kingston picks out Mike Tullberg with a great cross but the Hearts striker can only chest the ball straight at Killie goalkeeper Alan Combe.

1515: Samaras quickly hurls himself into the thick of the action and his header is cleared off the line.

1513: "There's a howling gale and driving rain at Tannadice. We'll be lucky to get much football in conditions like these."
BBC Radio Scotland commentator Kheredine Idessane

1511: Hibs go close to opening the scoring at Pittodrie. Riordan's speculative strike is deflected wide.

1510: "Kilmarnock haven't won in a few games... which means they can expect to get something from Hearts. We're the most charitable of Scottish teams..." GlasgowJambo1987 on My Sport Join the debate

1508: "If Aberdeen can keep getting the ball to Sone Aluko, it's going to be a very uncomfortable afternoon for Hibs' David van Zanten."
BBC Radio Scotland summariser Allan Preston at Pittodrie

1505: That must be one of the quickest substitutions in history. Samaras was rested by Gordon Strachan for less than a minute!

1504: No. Samaras will replace the long-named Dutchman. He appeared to land awkwardly and kick out at fresh air jiggering his left groin in the process.

1502: Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has hobbled off after 20 seconds of play. Will he return?

1500: Quick stat for y'all: Should Hibs win at Pittodrie today, it'll be the first time Aberdeen have lost five in a row since Steve Paterson's reign as manager. I wonder whatever happened to him? Join the debate

1459: And we're off! Well, everywhere except Parkhead where the teams are still loitering in the tunnel.

1456: "Good to see Mixu putting out a good attacking side. We were poor against Rangers last time out. Let's hope that Fletcher, Nish and Riordan have their shooting boots on." Macker100on My Sport Join the debate

1452: Here are how the teams will take the field for Celtic v Hamilton Accies:

Celtic: Boruc, Wilson, Caldwell, McManus, Robson, Nakamura, Scott Brown, Crosas, McGeady, Vennegoor of Hesselink, McDonald. Subs: Mark Brown, Samaras, Maloney, Donati, Hartley, O'Dea, Caddis.

Hamilton: Cerny, Mensing, Elebert, Swailes, Easton, Neil, Graham, McCarthy, Canning, McArthur, Lyle. Subs: Murdoch, Casement, McClenahan, Thomas, Ettien, Corcoran, Akins.

1450: Mixu Paatelainen has named a gung-ho attacking Hibs line-up, with Steven Fletcher, Derek Riordan and Colin Nish up front.

1447: "We want to get that monkey off our back as soon as possible. Individual mistakes are costing us big time. I don't think we've been outplayed by anyone.""
Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood

The 'monkey' Jimmy is referring to is the Dons' inability to notch a home win in the SPL so far this season...

1445: Hamilton Accies make a late change at Celtic Park, with Tony Stevenson withdrawn from the starting line-up to be replaced by Chris Swailes.

1443: Team news from Tynecastle: Hearts and Kilmarnock will both be keen to get back to winning ways in today's clash following disappointing results last week.

Jambos boss Csaba Laszlo makes two changes from the side who lost to Dundee United, with Mike Tullberg and Jason Thomson drafted into the starting line-up in place of the suspended Eggert Jonsson and Audrius Ksanavicius.

Kilmarnock make just one change after their reverse at Inverness. James Fowler's red card means he is banned and is replaced in the starting XI by Danny Invincibile.

1440: Hamilton boss Billy Reid has just confirmed that it is indeed the first time the Lanarkshire club have played at Parkhead since 1988.

1438: Team news from Tannadice: Dundee United gaffer Craig Levein unsurprisingly names an unchanged team as they sought a fourth successive victory. United are hoping to move into the top half of the SPL but opponents Inverness are also on a roll - the fourth-placed Highlanders are looking for their third consecutive victory.

Former United manager Craig Brewster makes two changes to the side that beat Kilmarnock with Jamie Duff and Don Cowie replacing Russell Duncan and Phil McGuire.

1436: "Should be a comfortable win for Celtic. I suspect the home teams will prevail elsewhere too - with Hibs the most likely away team to take a point or three." Blueseaon My Sport Join the debate

I suspect you could be right Bluesea. The four home sides certainly look good bets to bag the full whack of points this afternoon...

1433: Team news from Pittodrie: Aberdeen make two changes to the side that started against Celtic last Saturday with Charlie Mulgrew and Sone Aluko replacing Stuart Duff and Derek Young. Andrew Considine has to be content with a place on the bench after recovering from a shoulder injury.

Colin Nish returns to the Hibernian side in place of Dean Shiels after missing last week's defeat by Rangers with an ankle knock, while Steven Thicot and John Rankin replace Chris Hogg and Joe Keenan.

1432: Hamilton travel to the east-end of Glasgow to take on Celtic on their home turf for the first time in 20 years. That's an unbelievable statistic!

And, apparently, the two teams haven't met in any competition since 29 August 1990. It was a League Cup tie and Darius Dziekanowski (remember him?) scored the only goal of the game for Celtic. Am I right? Am I wildly wrong? Join the debate

1431: Team news from Celtic Park: Free-scoring player-of-the-month Georgios Samaras drops to the bench with Scott McDonald stepping into the big Greek's boots. The little Aussie forms a twin-pronged attack with Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. And Barry Robson is back in Gordon Strachan's starting line-up...but at left-back!

1430 BST: What are the big questions on every Scottish football fan's lips today? Can Aberdeen win their first home SPL game of the season against Hibs today? Why can't Celtic win away from home in the Champions League?

And with Motherwell crashing out of Europe and our co-efficient set to take a further nosedive, is Scottish football rubbish?

I'll be straddling the country like a colossus and attempting to keep abreast of all this afternoon's SPL action as it unfolds.
