Colin Nish scored Hibs' first ever league goal away to Inverness
Inverness Caledonian Thistle shared the spoils with Hibernian in a hard-fought encounter at the Caledonian stadium.
The hosts took the lead through Don Cowie's 21st minute deflected shot. Hibs appealed in vain for a penalty for a Richard Hastings push on Dean Shiels.
Colin Nish levelled the scores with a low shot just after half-time.
Caley almost restored their advantage when Barrowman nodded a McBain corner into the path of McGuire but McNeil coped well with the defender's attempt.
The home side took the game to Hibs with Andrew Barrowman and Adam Rooney looking lively.
Inverness almost took the lead after three minutes, when Ross Tokely's header was pushed over the bar by Andrew McNeil.
Caley created a good opportunity with Rooney latching on to a Hastings cross but the forward's attempt was easily taken by McNeil.
Don Cowie celebrates his opener against Hibs
John Rankin had a great chance to score against his former club when he collected a Fletcher pass but the midfielder dragged his shot wide.
The home side took the lead in the 21st minute when Ian Black played a ball over the top and Don Cowie raced onto the pass before firing a deflected shot past McNeil.
Straight after the break, Dean Shiels' shot fell into the path of Colin Nish and the big striker slid the ball past Fraser to score Hibs' first ever goal in Inverness.
With the home side looking rattled, Hibs could have edged ahead when Fletcher sprayed a beautiful diagonal ball to O'Brien and his left-foot cross found Nish whose header hit the post and bounced to safety.
Lionel Djebi-Zadi was given his Caley debut when he came on for Imrie.

Both teams freshened things up with Iain Vigurs coming on for McBain and Hibernian bringing Filipe Morais on for Alan O'Brien, but neither side could break the deadlock.
Hibs introduced new signing Steven Pinau for Keenan in the closing stages and the Frenchman could have won the game but he fired over the bar.
