Substitute Kenny Miller fired Celtic to victory as the Glasgow side came from behind to win a pulsating league encounter at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen took a deserved lead on 24 minutes when Aiden McGeady lost possession and Barry Nicholson's low cross was swept home by Craig Brewster.

Shunsuke Nakamura hit the crossbar with a trademark free-kick before Massimo Donati equalised on the hour mark.

Miller fired home on 85 minutes and curled in his second in injury-time.

Aberdeen made two changes to the team that drew with Hearts on 12 August.

Veteran striker Craig Brewster was brought in at the expense of Steve Lovell and Andrew Considine replaced the injured Lee Mair.

Celtic welcomed back goalkeeper Artur Boruc, who had been sidelined since the start of the season with a shoulder injury.

In other changes to the side that recorded a 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow on Wednesday, Gary Caldwell came in for the injured John Kennedy and Aiden McGeady replaced Paul Hartley.

Aberdeen started brightly and Jamie Smith tested Boruc with a 20-yard free-kick, which the keeper tipped over the bar.

Craig Brewster put the home side in front when Barry Nicholson's low cross was drilled home by the striker from inside the six-yard box.

Scott McDonald spurned a great chance to equalise when he headed wide from close range after a superb cross from Nakamura.

Darren Mackie almost put Aberdeen two up when Donati lost the ball and Boruc pulled off a great save to deny the Dons forward.

Celtic pressed for an equaliser before the interval but their neat build-up play lacked a cutting edge or a decent ball into the box.

Boruc spilled a Mackie shot before half-time but the Polish international recovered to scoop the ball off the line.

Nakamura struck the crossbar with a trademark free-kick but the visitors equalised in 61 minutes - after a neat move involving McDonald and McGeady enabled the Italian to step inside his marker and slot home from inside the box.

McGeady then hit a shot just over the bar a few minutes later as Celtic pressed for a second goal.

Nakamura then shot wide of the left-hand post from 20 yards as the visitors appeared to grow in confidence.

Mackie headed wide from eight yards with a quarter of the game remaining as both sides began to tire.

Miller fired Celtic in front when Nakamura found Donati inside the box with a crisp pass and the Scotland international sent a low shot under Soutar into the net.

The goal sparked a confrontation on the touchline, with some Aberdeen fans exchanging views with Celtic manager Gordon Strachan before the latter was sent to the stands.

Miller made the points safe when he curled home the third goal, and his second, from 25 yards into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
