Hearts 4-1 Motherwell
Takis Fyssas is congratulated by his team-mates after opening the scoring
Takis Fyssas fired Hearts in front in the first half
Hearts put their recent problems behind them with some great attacking football to dismantle Motherwell at Tynecastle.

Takis Fyssas scored his first goal for Hearts when he collected Neil McCann's pass and fired home after 10 minutes.

Richie Foran equalised nine minutes later against the run of play when he swept home David Clarkson's cross.

A Paul Quinn own goal restored Hearts' lead before Andrius Velicka fired home a third and Bruno Aguiar capped a fine display with a stunning free-kick.

Hearts started with five Lithuanians in the continued absence of captain Steven Pressley for the visit of Motherwell.

The club refused to comment on their dispute with the Scotland defender.

Chairman Roman Romanov's cryptic column in the match programme added to the intrigue simply read: "The cure might be painful, but at least we have the diagnosis."

Nerijus Barasa and Marius Zaliukas increased the contingent of Lithuanians while Julien Brellier was recalled to the side.

The suspended Paul Hartley and dropped Christophe Berra were missing while Robbie Neilson was demoted to the bench.

Martyn Corrigan made his first start of the season for Well after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury and he replaced Keith Lasley, who suffered the same problem last week.

The Jambos were looking to end a nine-match run without a victory against a Well side on the back of two wins.

Hearts started brightly and forced two corners in the opening five minutes as they pressed for the opening goal.

Ibrahim Tall spurned a great chance after eight minutes when his header from Bruno Aguiar's free-kick failed to trouble the goalkeeper.

Fyssas put the Tynecastle side in front a minute later when he collected Neil McCann's reverse pass to fire home past Colin Meldrum.

Motherwell stunned the home side hosts 11 minutes later when Martyn Corrigan's pass released David Clarkson down the right wing and his low cross was slotted home by Foran from 10 yards.

Saulius Mikoliunas flashed a drive wide minutes after the re-start as the Tynecastle looked to take the lead again.

Hearts restored their lead when the unfortunate Quinn was booked for a challenge on Fyssas and the defender headed Aguiar's free-kick into his own net.

Motherwell looked shell-shocked and could not get Foran into the game in the second-half, while Aguiar controlled the midfield.

Velicka put Hearts 3-1 up after 57 minutes when he lobbed the ball home from 12 yards.

Aguiar capped a superb individual display with a stunning free-kick into the top right-hand corner after 63 minutes, to the delight of the home fans at Tynecastle.

Neil McCann spurned a glorious chance to add to Hearts' tally with a quarter of an hour left, when he ballooned the ball over from six yards.
