Aberdeen 1-1 Inverness CT

The unfortunate Langfield dropped a clanger late in the game
Inverness rescued a point at Pittodrie after a calamitous mistake from Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield.

In the 89th minute the Dons keeper dropped a high ball at the feet of Barry Wilson and the veteran forward rolled the ball into an empty net.

Stevie Crawford continued his scoring run to fire the Dons ahead from a neat Richard Foster pass on 29 minutes.

Aberdeen's Barry Nicholson went close with a long-range free-kick but Mark Brown produced a fine save.

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood made no alterations to the team which drew 1-1 at Hibernian last Saturday.

But the visitors made three changes, with Ross Tokely, Richard Hastings and Roy McBain replacing Stuart McCaffrey, Russell Duncan and Stuart Golabek.

Aberdeen looked the more dangerous side in the opening exchanges, although defences were on top and goalscoring opportunities were few and far between.

But Crawford claimed his second goal of the new season when he beat the offside trap to knock in a Foster pass from close range.

Aberdeen immediately looked to further increase their lead when Jamie Smith sent a shot from distance just wide, before Inverness responded with a McBain effort which drew a fine save from Langfield.

Caley Thistle keeper Brown then made an outstanding parry from Nicholson's 25-yard free-kick to ensure his side did not fall further behind.

With time running out, Inverness striker Craig Dargo wasted a glorious opportunity.

After a fine run by Tokely and then a low cross into the box, Dargo had time to pick his spot from only 12 yards out, but sent a poor right-footed effort well over the crossbar.

Dargo made amends when he created Caley Thistle's equaliser, albeit with a huge slice of good fortune.

As Langfield tried to catch the forward's looping cross he collided with team-mate Richie Byrne and Wilson was on hand to tap the dropped ball into an unguarded net from barely a yard.
