Aberdeen 3-0 Livingston
Aberdeen striker Steve Lovell was on target
Aberdeen ran out comfortable winners at Pittodrie
Aberdeen took advantage of some slack Livingston defending to leap up to sixth place in the SPL table.

Dons skipper Russell Anderson found the net with a header when he connected with a good delivery from Jamie Smith.

Livingston were unlucky to be behind at half-time, with Sam Morrow and David Mackay both hitting the woodwork.

But Steve Lovell punished poor marking with a close range finish after 63 minutes and Dutchman Ferne Snoyl coolly stroked in a rebound late on.

With Motherwell drawing and Inverness not playing, the Dons have moved up two places, while time is running out for Livingston to avoid the drop.

Aberdeen played themselves into early danger when slack marking allowed Morrow to flick a Richard Brittain free-kick against the base of the post and Mackay could only hook the rebound wide.

But Aberdeen composed themselves and, in the 17th minute, powered into the lead.

Ferne Snoyl worked the ball to Smith and, from the former Celtic man's cross, Anderson found the net for a sixth time this season with a header.

In the 24th minute, Livi keeper Roddy McKenzie had to produce a smart save to deny Chris Clark after more good play from Snoyl.

Steve Lovell unleashed a powerful right-footed shot from 20 yards which looked as if it was going to trouble McKenzie but MacKay saved his goalkeeper from being called into action by bravely heading the ball away.

Smith then screwed a shot wide when well placed before MacKay was denied an equaliser when his opportunistic effort from 20 yards hit the crossbar in first-half injury time.

Livingston were unfortunate not to draw level in the 50th when MacKay's cross flashed along the goal-line, with Allan Walker just failing to connect.

The Almondvale side continued to look threatening and Morrow was unlucky to see a 20-yard shot curl just wide of Langfield's far post.

But the Dons doubled their lead when Anderson flicked on Snoyl's inswinging delivery and the alert Lovell was on hand to turn the ball into the net from six yards.

Just prior to the goal, McKenzie had produced an excellent save to tip Scott Severin's header from Smith's corner over the crossbar.

With 10 minutes remaining, Aberdeen put the result beyond doubt as Snoyl was on hand to finish after Scott Severin drew a fine save from McKenzie with a low drive.
