Hibernian 7-0 Livingston
Garry O'Connor and Chris Killen celebrate
Hibs put on a great show for their supporters at Easter Road
Hibs swept Livingston aside with a magnificent seven and moved back into third place in the SPL table.

Chris Killen bundled the home team in front after Roddy McKenzie had done well to save two strikes and Derek Riordan tucked away a penalty kick.

O'Connor slid home early in the second half and Riordan found the net after McKenzie had saved from Ivan Sproule.

David Mackay knocked in an own goal before Steven Fletcher added a late double for the rampant Hibees.

With Rangers slipping to defeat at Aberdeen, Hibs are back ahead of the Ibrox club by one point and have given their goal difference a boost.

It is only the fourth time a team has won 7-0 since the SPL's inception and the margin could have been greater, with McKenzie making a number of saves and Stephen Glass hitting the woodwork.

On a bitterly cold evening, Hibs were rather slow to start but they made the breakthrough in the 18th minute as Killen scored his second in as many games.

Sproule darted down the flank before unleashing a low cross which was hit towards goal by the New Zealander.

McKenzie saved the shot and did well to block from O'Connor but Killen forced the ball home from close range.

The advantage was doubled when Livi player-manager Paul Lambert lunged at Riordan to concede a 33rd minute penalty.

Riordan converted the spot-kick, placing the ball low into the right corner of the net.

Three minutes after the break Hibernian scored again after Glass turned two opponents and sent Riordan clear with an inch-perfect pass.

Riordan shot across the face of the goal and O'Connor slid in at the far post to make sure.

Sproule was wreaking havoc with his pace and he was denied by McKenzie's legs and saw Greg Strong clear another effort off the goal-line.

The Northern Ireland winger was again unlucky as Riordan grabbed his second of the night - his 50th goal in the SPL.

Sproule's low shot was saved by the outstretched toe of McKenzie but Riordan picked up the rebound to slam the ball into the empty net.

The fifth goal in the 70th minute summed up Livingston's night as McKay diverted a Glass corner kick beyond his own goalkeeper.

Hibs substitute Fletcher added two more goals in the closing stages as bottom of the table Livingston fell apart.

The teenager's first was a fine strike from 20 yards, while the second was another impressive shot from a little closer in.
