Hearts 1-2 Hibernian
Dean Shiels celebrates the winning goal
Hibs took a big step towards confirming a third-place finish as they came from behind to beat Hearts at Tynecastle for the first time in over five years.

Hearts dominated the first half and a mistake by Hibs keeper Simon Brown let Lee Miller head in the opening goal.

But Hibs lifted their performance after the break and equalised through Garry O'Connor's 12-yard effort.

Dean Shiels got the winner, firing in the rebound after Amadou Konte's header had hit the post.

Paul Hartley was first to test Simon Brown in the Hibs goal, but his third-minute free kick from 25 yards was held by the keeper.

Brown looked less clever when he fumbled another free kick from Jamie McAllister, but Mark Burchill knocked the ball over the bar from close range.

Minutes later, Burchill might have done better when he could only direct a Deividas Cesnauskis cross harmlessly into Brown's hands from 10 yards out.

McAllister's 26th-minute inswinging corner from the right was met by Miller, whose header from 14 yards was going into the far corner until Antonio Murray blocked the ball on the line with Steven Pressley knocking the loose ball over the bar from close range.

Brown kept out another Hartley drive, but he was caught out as the home side took the lead six minutes before the break.

McAllister's free-kick was met by the head of Miller, but Brown, misjudging the flight of the ball, attempted to shepherd the ball behind only to see it sneak inside the post.

Having been largely absent from first-half proceedings, Hibs forced Craig Gordon into a tremendous save low to his right from Ian Murray's drive.

Hibs skipper Murray, having been booked earlier, was perhaps lucky to remain on the park after a foul on Pressley, but referee John Rowbotham took no action.

On the hour mark Riordan had the ball in the net after knocking the ball away from Gordon as the keeper shaped to clear from hand, but Rowbotham awarded the home side a free-kick.

Brown made up in part for his earlier blunder when he flew to his left to beat away a powerful Hartley drive from distance.

Hibs drew level midway through the half when Shiels nipped in on the blindside of Jason Thomson to cause panic in the Hearts box and the ball broke to O'Connor, who side-footed the ball into the net.

And the visitors went ahead just five minutes later. Amadou Konte headed against the post but Shiels followed up to fire in the rebound.

Hearts pressed hard for an equaliser but it was not to be.
