Craig Brewster came back to haunt Dunfermline as Inverness celebrated the first-ever Scottish Premier League game at Caledonian Stadium with a victory.

Caley Thistle, ending their tenancy of Pittodrie, took the lead 10 minutes from the break, Barry Wilson curling a spectacular drive into the net.

Player-manager Brewster, who left Athletic in December, drove home the second goal from 18 yards.

A Lee Makel effort from 20 yards struck the Caley Thistle woodwork late on.

Brewster, playing against his former club for the first time, had made one change, with Ross Tokely taking the place of Stuart McCaffrey in defence.

Dunfermline boss Davie Hay kept faith with the same line-up as last weekend, but his side were quickly under pressure.

A Graham Bayne cross found Juanjo in front of goal, but the Spanish forward fired well over the crossbar.

Wilson unleashed a 25-yard drive that fell just wide of the Pars post.

Barry Nicholson threatened with a decent run into the Caley Thistle box, but his point-blank shot was held by Inverness goalkeeper Mark Brown.

Greg Ross came on for Pars defender Aaron Labonte after 34 minutes and the visitors almost immediately fell behind.

Wilson sent a superb curling effort into the back of the net from the edge of the area.

Juanjo was denied by the hand of Derek Stillie shortly after the break when the forward broke clear and attempted to round the goalkeeper.

Brewster and Wilson had also come close to increasing the lead before the player-boss hammered the ball past Stillie after 73 minutes.

Dunfermline had rarely threatened and they were denied a comeback when Makel's long-range effort struck the woodwork.
