Dundee United 1-4 Hibernian
Garry O'Connor is congratulated at Tannadice
Hibernian continued their excellent form at Tannadice
Hibernian recovered from the loss of an early goal to win at Tannadice and move up to third in the SPL table.

Jason Scotland shot United into an eighth minute lead but Derek Riordan headed Hibs back on level terms five minutes later.

Garry O'Connor shot the visitors ahead in the 22nd minute after good work from Alen Orman, who also set up Riordan.

The impressive Orman headed Hibs further in front early in the second half and Sam Morrow added a late goal.

United have won just three SPL games this season and end the year sitting at the foot of the league.

The home team started the game in determined mood and took the lead thanks to the lively Scotland.

Derek McInnes slipped a ball to the striker inside the Hibs penalty area and the man from Trinidad brilliantly turned Gary Caldwell before rifling a shot from 14 yards into the top corner of the net.

In the 13th minute, however, the visitors bounced back when Riordan stooped to head an Orman cross past keeper Tony Bullock.

Soon after, O'Connor drove an angled shot from close range just over the bar.

Former Hibs skipper Grant Brebner saw his chip from 25 yards float onto the top of the net, before Mark Kerr's drive from the edge of the box drew a fine save from visiting goalkeeper Simon Brown.

Hibs moved into the lead with a fine O'Connor goal which ended an eye-catching move.

Orman chested a Riordan cross down to O'Connor, who quickly blasted a left-footed shot from 12 yards high into the net.

Hibs midfielder Dean Shiels came close with a chip from distance which went just over Bullock's crossbar.

Two minutes before the interval United almost drew level when McIntyre's shot from the edge of the box clipped the crossbar.

McIntyre missed a great chance early in the second half when he headed a Mark Wilson corner past the far post from close range.

Riordan and Craig Rocastle both had efforts well saved by Bullock before Hibs moved further ahead.

A wayward cross from the left from Shiels was foolishly headed back into the danger area by McIntyre, back to help his defence, and Orman was in the right place to bundle the ball over the line with his head.

In the 79th minute McIntyre's powerful 25-yard drive was only just tipped over the bar by Brown before the United striker missed an easy chance from three yards out.

In the 80th minute the visitors scored their fourth goal to compound United's afternoon of misery.

Steven Whittaker robbed Alan Archibald in midfield leaving substitute Morrow with only Chris Innes between him and the goal.

The lively striker, easily skipped past the United defender and slammed the ball past Brown for his first goal for the Easter Road club.
