Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers
Graham Bayne's goal gave Caley Thistle a deserved point
Rangers spurned the opportunity to regain first place in the SPL as they were held to a draw by Inverness Caley Thistle at Pittodrie.

Graham Bayne caught the Rangers defence cold with an early goal from close range following Richie Hart's cross.

The home side were well worth their lead but Dado Prso equalised after 51 minutes with a low drive past Mark Brown in the Inverness goal.

Both sides had good chances to win the game but neither team could finish.

Rangers manager Alex McLeish had criticised his players in midweek for a lack of concentration early in the game, but they clearly have short memories as they were caught out in the third minute by the home side.

Richie Hart crossed towards the back post where no-one had tracked Bayne's run and the striker prodded the ball past Stefan Klos.

Prso sought to redress the balance immediately with a jinking run inside the box, but Mark Brown saved his shot from a tight angle at his near post.

Prso had another opportunity to equalise after 24 minutes, but his strike from Fernando Ricksen's long pass was well taken by Brown.

At the other end, Stuart Golabek brought out a terrific save from Klos with a vicious effort from 25 yards.

Bayne took advantage of an injury to Jean Alain Boumsong to fire in another shot that Klos had to deal with, before Rangers' French defender limped out of the game.

The Rangers team clearly received some harsh words from their manager at half time as they started the second period in far more convincing fashion.

It took them just six minutes to draw level. Stephen Hughes played a marvellous ball through to Prso who beat Brown at his near post with a low drive.

Prso shot over under pressure from 12 yards in 64 minutes and, moments later, Bayne did likewise from outside the Rangers penalty area.

Klos came to Rangers' rescue when Liam Keogh and Juanjo exchanged passes only for the Rangers keeper to block Keogh's goal-bound shot.

Prso claimed for a penalty under Darren Dods' challenge, but the referee saw nothing amiss.

Nacho Novo then fired wide as both sides continued to search for a winning goal and the Spaniard saw another effort from point-blank range saved, although the offside flag was already raised.

The little striker missed a wonderful opportunity to take all three points when he shot straight at Brown after good work by Prso and the spoils were shared.
