Rangers 4-0 Livingston
Dado Prso celebrates his first goal for Rangers
An impressive first-half performance by Rangers ensured they recorded their first win of the season.

Dado Prso put the home side ahead after just six minutes when he beat Roddy McKenzie from close range.

Hughes doubled the lead just after the half-hour mark when he capped a fine move by scoring from only a yard out.

The midfielder tapped in a third goal with 12 minutes remaining and Shota Arveladze got a fourth from the edge of the box late on.

Rangers started brightly and got their reward with an early opener.

Gregory Vignal's free kick was met by the head of Shota Arveladze at the near post, but Burton O'Brien cleared off the line.

The ball fell to Hughes, though, and he sent the ball straight back into the box to Prso, who slotted into the net from six yards out.

A Marvin Andrews error let in Derek Lilley at the other end but Stefan Klos was able to block with his legs at his near post.

Lilley had another effort deflected wide before Peter Lovenkrands wasted a good chance at the other end when he got on the end of a Nacho Novo cross only to fail to hit the target.

McKenzie saved from Prso and then did likewise from Lovenkrands after 31 minutes.

But moments later it was 2-0. Arveladze began the move with a delightful back-heel on the left touchline to take out two Livi players and find Lovenkrands.

The ball moved from the Dane to Prso, then to Novo wide on the right.

The Spaniard went past two men before crossing to the back post where Lovenkrands' shot was poked over the line by Hughes.

Livi's only reply was a long-range effort by Stuart Lovell, but Klos saved comfortably.

There was a let-off for the visitors at the beginning of the second half when Rubio knocked a long ball from Fernando Ricksen over his own goalkeeper, but when the ball dropped to Arveladze, the Georgian missed his kick as he tried to connect first time on the turn.

Livi were much improved after half time and Steven Boyack produced their best move of the match when he turned his man before firing in a powerful shot that flew just past Klos' right-hand post.

Prso appealed for a penalty in the 65th minute when he went down in a tussle with Manu Dorado, but the referee waved play on.

Rangers put the game well beyond Livi when Hughes made it 3-0 in the 79th minute after Thompson had mis-kicked a pull back from Arveladze. The ball broke perfectly for the midfielder to slot past the helpless McKenzie.

Arveladze made it 4-0 in the 87th minute when he was picked out at the far post to fire past McKenzie and off Bahoken.
