Henrik Larsson and Martin O'Neill celebrate making the final
Henrik Larsson and Martin O'Neill celebrate making the final
Celtic will have a week to prepare for the Uefa Cup final after their league match against Dundee was brought forward.

Martin O'Neill's side were originally due to face Dundee on 17 May, just four days before taking on Porto in Seville.

But following Dundee's generous offer to the Scottish Premier League, Celtic have decided to move the game to the previous Wednesday 14 May.

The game will be played at Celtic Park at 1945 BST, allowing the Scottish champions a free weekend ahead of the Uefa Cup final.

It's a great gesture from Dundee and is much appreciated by everyone at Celtic
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill
A Dundee spokesman said: "Celtic have accepted our offer to play on the Wednesday and I hope it works.

"A Celtic victory is good for all of Scottish football and we would have done this whether it was Rangers, Hearts or even Dundee United in a final of a European competition."

O'Neill applauded the move by Dundee.

"First of all we need to say a big thank you to Dundee Football Club because it was a fantastic gesture from them," he said.

"It gives us a bit more time now to prepare for what is a massive match.

"You don't know what injuries you might pick up in the games before the final and at least this gives all of us a little bit more time ahead of the final.

"It's a great gesture from them and one which is much appreciated by everyone at the football club."

Striker Chris Sutton will miss the Dundee game through suspension.
