Bowman banned until December
![]() Dave Bowman received four red cards against Berwick
Forfar Athletic's veteran midfielder, Dave Bowman, will not play again until December after receiving a massive, seven-match ban from the Scottish Football Association.
The combative former Dundee United man was sent off and given four red cards by referee John Fleming on Saturday during the 5-3 defeat by Berwick Rangers in the Second Division. An SFA official said: "The player has been reported for being sent off, originally for two cautions. "But he has also been reported for using foul and abusive language on three separate occasions and this amounts to another three orderings off, giving a total of four." Groin injury Bowman had been doubtful for the match due to a groin injury and may now be wishing he had not played at all. There was some good news for Forfar before kick-off when former Motherwell and Partick Thistle defender Jered Stirling signed a further, on-month contract and he started on the bench alongside their recent signing from Alloa Athletic, Gerry Farrell. Midfielder Andy Cargill has resumed training, but long-term absenties Alex Taylor and Scott Taylor are still missing. Saturday was a baptism of fire for 18-year-old goalkeeper Neal Ferrie, who was making his home league debut.
