Former Celtic, Hearts and St Johnstone striker Darren Jackson made a dream debut for Clydebank, scoring the goal that saw off Cowdenbeath.

Alex Burke did the hard work on the right wing before setting the ball up for Jackson to hit home from 20 yards.

Cowdenbeath moved up a couple of gears and midway through the half they were twice denied an equaliser by Bankies goalkeeper Henry Smith.

He held a glorious 25-yard rocket from Kevin Byle.

Smith then bravely dived at the feet of Stephen Swift to scoop the ball clear when a goal looked on the cards.

Clydebank: Smith, Paton, McGowan, Bossy, McNally, McKinnon, Ferguson, McKinlay, Jackson, O'Neill, Burke. Subs: McGrillen, Graham, McColligan, Miller, Robertson.

Cowdenbeath: O'Connor, Boyle, Milne, Campbell, Wilson, Lawrence, French, Byle, Brown, Young, Swift. Subs: Wright, Mauchlen, Miller, A Trialist, Fleming.

Referee: I Brines.
