East Fife maintained their promotion play-off hopes with victory over Second Division rivals Ayr United.

Ryan Wallace's shot gave the hosts the lead before Scott Durie fired home his first goal for the Fifers.

Michael Moffat's close-range effort before the break reduced Ayr's deficit but Bobby Linn converted Wallace's cross to put East Fife 3-1 up.

Ayr's Mark Roberts had a penalty saved but the visitors did pull one back when Moffat netted near the end.


East Fife: Michael Brown, Durie, Ovenstone, McGowan, Park, Linn, Muir, Young, McCulloch, Hislop (Cargill 82), Wallace.
