Ayr 0-1 Forfar

Scottish Football League

Bryan Deasley struck four minutes from time to secure a win over fellow promotion-chasers Ayr that strengthens Forfar Athletic's play-off hopes.

Michael Moffat brought the best out of Forfar goalkeeper Scott Gallacher, who had to tip over an 18-yard shot.

The visitors looked short of ideas in the first half and United midfielder William Easton had a couple of good efforts saved after the break.

But Deasley rifled home from the edge of the area to win a tentative contest.

Defeat leaves Ayr still in second place but 16 points adrift of Division Two leaders Livingston.

Forfar move eight points clear of fifth-placed East Fife and a point behind Brechin City.
