Annan Athletic 1-2 Arbroath

Nine-man Arbroath cemented their place at the top of the table with a win over 10-man Annan in an ill-tempered game.

David McGowan smacked home a 25-yard shot for the opener in 49 minutes and Craig Wedderburn doubled the advantage.

A second yellow for Wedderburn meant he followed team-mate Stuart Malcolm in being sent off, a fate met by Annan's John MacBeth, too, for violent conduct.

With 10 minutes to play, Daniel Griffin put through his own net to set up a tense finish but Arbroath held on.
