Ayr 2-0 Dumbarton

Scottish Football League

Victory saw Ayr close the gap on the Second Division's top two and left Dumbarton still seeking their first league win of the season.

Mark Roberts opened the scoring when he thumped home a penalty after Alan Cook had fouled Ryan McCann in the box.

The visitors almost equalised when Patrick Walker's shot was turned away by Ayr goalkeer David Crawford.

But Ayr sealed the win when Danny McKay latched onto Crawford's long ball to tuck away his third goal of the season.
