Arbroath moved to within two points of the Third Division play-off places after a hard-fought win at Gayfield.

The visitors took the lead when Alan Brazil turned in Darren Gribbon's free-kick into the bottom corner of the net before Mark Durnan levelled.

Steven Doris put Arbroath in front from Gavin Swankie's cross but Chris McLeod's header pulled Berwick level.

However, David McGowan claimed all three points for the home side finding the net from just inside the box.
