Dumbarton 0-0 Brechin City

Dumbarton and Brechin had to settle for a share of the spoils as both defences ensured the game ended goalless.

The hosts started brightly with strikers Denis McLaughlin and Alan Cook both denied by veteran Brechin goalkeeper Craig Nelson.

Willie Dyer then cleared off the line as Chris Smith's deflected header looked destined to give Sons the lead.

Dumbarton had a soft penalty appeal for a Paul McLean handball and Derek Carcary struck the post with a header.
