Annan kicked off their Third Division campaign in great style
Annan Athletic got off to a dream start by thrashing Cowdenbeath at Central Park in their first senior league game.
Paul McQuade had put the hosts in front after 16 minutes by chipping Craig Summersgill from the edge of the box.
Annan levelled on 29 minutes through a Mike Jack penalty when Kevin Neilson was impeded before Jack volleyed number two three minutes into the second half.
Steven Archibald's scrambled goal made it 3-1 and Darren Johnstone netted a fourth from just inside the area.
Annan Athletic manager Harry Cairney was thrilled at the emphatic start to his side's Division Three campaign.
"We're delighted with how it turned out. Everything went for us on the day and we played really well," he said.
But Cairney admitted he was concerned before Mike Jack stepped up to the penalty spot to hit Annan's historic first senior goal.
"Mike missed two in pre-season but put the keeper the wrong way," he added.
