Brian Wake scored a double as Morton avoided a relegation play-off thanks to a fine win away to Partick Thistle.
Wake hammered the ball home from 12 yards after only 14 minutes at Firhill and Kevin Finlayson fired home from all of 35 yards out just before the break.
The win was sealed as the home defence stood and watched Ian Russell thread through a pass for Wake to finish.
Morton's victory was matched by rivals Clyde, but the Greenock side stayed ahead on goal difference.
Ton manager Davie Irons was delighted, having moved from relegated Gretna before their plunge into administration.
"I am going to hire myself out for last-day dramas in Scottish football," said the manager who led Gretna to the Scottish Premier League with a final-day win last season.
"I thought it was close last year, but one goal this year, I don't know if it can get much tighter.
"I don't know if my heart can take much more of this.
"I did not want to go into the record books as taking two teams down in one season."
