Play-off plans for Morton & Clyde

Morton v Clyde
Morton and Clyde may have to meet in a two-game play-off

Clyde and Morton will face an extra relegation play-off should they end the Division One season equal on points and goal difference.

Third-bottom Morton are presently ahead of the Cumbernauld club by virtue of having conceded one less goal.

But, with Clyde hosting relegated Stirling and Morton away to Partick Thistle, they could finish all-square.

Should that happen, they would play home and away, with the loser entering the scheduled Division One play-offs.

Following a draw made by the Scottish Football League on Tuesday, the first game would be at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld on Wednesday, 30 April.

Clyde would then travel to Cappielow Stadium in Greenock for the second leg on Saturday, 3 May.

Those were the dates originally scheduled for the relegation play-offs themselves.

The side finishing second bottom of the SFL will play against Alloa Athletic, who will finish fourth in Division Two.

And the winners will go on to play in a two-leg play-off final.

Airdrie United and Raith Rovers, who will finish second and third in Division Two, will contest the other play-off as they attempt to win promotion.

Cowdenbeath, who will finish the season second bottom of Division Two, face Arbroath, fourth in Division Three, in their first play-off.

Meanwhile, Stranraer and Montrose contest the other play-off semi-final as the sides finishing second and third in Division Three aim for promotion.
