Striker Mark Burchill is on his way out of Dunfermline

Dunfermline striker Mark Burchill and midfielder Stephen Simmons have been told they can look for new clubs.

Manager Jim McIntyre said: "We spoke about contracts and I appreciate the effort they have put in but they have both chosen to pursue other avenues."

However, he confirmed veteran defender Scott Thomson, 36, has agreed a new one-year deal despite a wage cut.

McIntyre also said there has been no decision on the future of Stevie Crawford and Darren Young.

Speaking about Thomson, McIntyre told the club website: "I think we have lost only three times when he played. His experience at the back has been invaluable.

"I said before I took over I would be out to get Scott into the team because I had played against him many a time and knew his qualities.

"He is due a great deal of credit that he has agreed a deal on vastly reduced wages. It shows his desire to stay at the club."
