Airdrie United have signed French midfielder Xavier Barrau after the 23-year-old impressed as a trialist in defeats by St Johnstone and Dundee.
And the Division One club have promised more signings as they attempt to lift themselves out the relegation zone.
Manager Sandy Stewart said: "We wanted to bring in new faces to freshen up the place and Xavi came highly recommended.
"We had the chance to have a look at him in two games, but his performances and attitude in training were enough."
Left-sided Barrau, a friend of Hearts defender Ibrahim Tall, had come to Scotland after rejecting a new contract with Meyrin in the Swiss First Division.
He had trials with Dundee United, Ross County and Raith Rovers before winning his deal with Airdrie.
Barrau had started his career with Walsall and has also played for French clubs Lyon and Viry-Chatillon.
