Dundee United 2-1 Hibernian
Jim McIntyre celebrates against Hibernian
Jim McIntyre forced the game into extra time
Jim McIntyre grabbed a double as Dundee United came from behind to defeat Hibernian and take their place in the semi-finals of the CIS Cup.

Derek Riordan had given last season's beaten finalists the lead after half an hour, driving home a Dean Shiels pass.

McIntyre had squandered chances to equalise before bundling the ball over the line three minutes from time.

And the veteran striker collected a Billy Dodds pass to drive home the winner in extra time from six yards.

McIntyre had only been given a starting place because midfielder Karim Kerkar was cup-tied with Clyde.

Mark Wilson and Chris Innes had also been able to start for United, despite their red cards in the league on Saturday.

Midfielder Stephen Fletcher dropped out for Hibs and in came Sam Morrow, but he only last 18 minutes before injury forced him to be replaced by the man he had ousted.

Hibs had started strongly and Guillaume Beuzelin's cross found Riordan, but the slightly off-balance striker sent the ball spinning wide.

McIntyre was next to miscue after being found by Jason Scotland's square ball 16 yards from goal.

Hibs took the lead on the half-hour mark, when Shiels' intelligent ball in behind Paul Ritchie sat up perfectly for Riordan to fire into the far corner.

McIntyre had a chance to equalise but blasted straight into the arms of goalkeeper Simon Brown.

Gary Caldwell went close with a header as Hibs almost stretched their lead.

Brown ensured his team went in leading at the break with a great double save, first with his body from a point-blank effort from Jason Scotland and then brilliantly palming away a Collin Samuel shot.

The Hibs goalkeeper made another good save after the break, this time to deny McInnes, who got his head to Samuel's cross from the right.

United substitute James Grady could have scored with almost his first touch but fired weakly into Brown's hands after finding space following a defensive slip.

United's pressure was rewarded in the 87th minute, when Hibs failed to deal with Wilson's free-kick, leaving space for McIntyre to score.

And McIntyre pounced 16 minutes into extra time, firing the winner from close range following a cross from substitute Billy Dodds.
