Inverness Caley Thistle and Dunfermline have to do it all again to decide who goes through to the Scottish Cup final after a draw at Hampden.

The First Division side took a shock lead just before half time when Paul Ritchie headed in off the post.

Caley Thistle keeper Mark Brown then produced a number of top quality saves to keep his side in front.

But Dunfermline equalised after 67 minutes when Craig Brewster got above Bobby Mann to head past Brown.

The SPL side put early pressure on Caley Thistle with a high ball into the box that Ross Tokely attempted to shepherd back to his keeper.

But as it became clear the ball was not going to bounce through to Mark Brown, he was forced to race off his line to claim the ball, taking Stevie Crawford out of the play in the process.

Dunfermline were denied the lead by a fantastic save from Brown after 18 minutes.

Craig Brewster took advantage of a misplaced header to play in Derek Young, but his side-footed effort from the edge of the area was diverted wide of the post by the outstretched hand of Brown.

Minutes later, Crawford passed up a glorious chance when Brewster's flick fell kindly for him six yards from goal, but he took too long over his shot and Stuart Golabek was able to get in a crucial saving challenge.

At the other end, Liam Keogh drove into the box only to see his shot charged down by Lee Bullen's sliding challenge.

On the stroke of half time, the First Division side took the lead. David Bingham found room on the left and he floated a beautiful cross onto the head of the onrushing Ritchie who directed the ball off the post and into Derek Stillie's net.

Ritchie could have doubled the Caley Thistle lead shortly after the interval, but this time his front-post header from Barry Wilson's free kick flew wide.

Crawford struck a powerful volley goalwards after 49 minutes but, fortunately for Caley Thistle, it was straight at Brown, who held it comfortably.

Caley Thistle had another fortunate escape when Young found space inside the box, but he chose to cut the ball back to Brewster and Roy McBain got in an important challenge.

Brown kept his side in front with another top-class save just before the hour-mark. Bullen raced down the right before crossing for Crawford whose header looked destined for the back of the net until Brown acrobatically pushed it wide.

The keeper could do nothing, however, about Dunfermline's equaliser when it came midway through the second half.

Darren Young crossed from the left and Brewster rose highest to send an unstoppable header into the net.

Dunfermline continued to have more of the ball, but the Caley Thistle defence held firm to book a replay at Pittodrie on 20 April.
