Montrose battled their way to a deserved draw against promotion-chasing Morton, who failed to score in their third successive game.
Both sides created chances in the first half and Montrose went closest to scoring after 26 minutes when striker Ralph Brand just missed the target from Graeme Christie's knock-down.
Paul Riley saved Montrose with a goalline clearance from a 31st-minute Stuart MacDonald header and Chris Miller forced a brilliant save from Gary McGlynn as Morton pressed for the opener.
Morton pressed after the break and Miller had a header cleared off the line by John McQuillan as Montrose clung on for a point.
