St Johnstone 2-0 Inverness CT

Two stunning late goals from Chris Hay earned St Johnstone the win over Inverness Caley Thistle at McDiarmid Park.

The former Celtic striker's double allowed the Saints to leapfrog the visitors into second place in Division One.

With the game drifting towards full time, Hay found himself in acres of space and unleashed an unstoppable strike from 20 yards high into the Inverness net.

And in injury time, Hay doubled his tally for the afternoon.

Hay broke clear on the left-hand side, following Paul Hartley's excellent pass, and sent a clinical drive past helpless goalkeeper Mark Brown to secure a crucial victory.

St Johnstone: Cuthbert, Baxter, John Robertson, Mark Robertson, Dodds, Maxwell, Noble, Murray, Hartley, Connolly, Lovenkrands.

Subs: Hay, Parker, Miotto, Ferry, Forsyth.

Inverness CT: Brown, Tokely, Golabek, Mann, Munro, McCaffray, Duncan, Wyness, Ritchie, Christie, McBain.

Subs: Bagan, Stewart, Hislop, Keogh, Fraser.

Referee: A Freeland
