Falkirk 3-1 St Mirren

Falkirk extended their lead at the top of the First Division to eight points after a fine victory over St Mirren at Brockville.

The Bairns dominated proceedings from the off, and Saints goalkeeper Kris Robertson had to be at his best to keep the scoreline respectable.

The hosts took the lead after 16 minutes when Craig McPherson's corner was headed against the crossbar by Lee Miller, and player-boss Owen Coyle was on hand to notch his 15th goal of the season.

Saints started brightly after the interval, and levelled after 56 minutes when Simon Lappin's corner was spilled by keeper Darren Hill allowing Greg Denham to equalise from close range.

Falkirk restored their lead two minutes later with another McPherson corner doing the damage.

His cross was headed down by Lee Miller and John Henry hooked home from close range.

The hosts sealed the points with 12 minutes left. McPherson and Henry again combined to set up Colin Samuel who slotted home from 10 yards.
