Ayr United 4-2 St Mirren
A wonder goal from John Robertson sealed victory for Ayr in a thrilling match which included three penalties as they saw off St Mirren.

It was the hosts who started brightly and raced into the lead after just two minutes when Eddie Annand fired home the first spot-kick.

But Saints responded and hit back with an equaliser on 18 minutes when Hugh Murray's cross was headed home by Mark Yardley.

Ayr restored the lead six minutes later when Pat McGinlay was chopped down in the box and Annand drilled home from the spot again.

But St Mirren pulled level on the hour through yet another penalty when John Hughes handled in the box and Ricky Gillies converted the kick.

As the momentum swung once more, Paul Sheerin drilled Ayr back in front soon after.

But it was Robertson who was to save the best for last as he ran fully 65 yards before firing home to seal the points.
