Ayr Utd 2-0 Ross County
Striker Eddie Annand stole the show with two wonderful strikes, as Ayr continued
their impressive start to the season with a fine victory over Ross County.
The former Dundee forward gave his side the lead after 34 minutes when he chested the ball down before firing home from 12 yards. Ayr dominated the second half and Paul Sheerin almost doubled the lead with a 20-yard effort that flew just wide of the post. Annand netted his fourth goal of the season after 61 minutes when he cut inside and curled a measured shot into the corner of the net. County's best chance came from the penalty spot but Steven Ferguson's kick was saved by Craig Nelson. John Bradford almost added a third but saw his shot crash back off the post late on. Ayr United: Nelson, Duffy, Hughes, Craig, Robertson, Wilson, McGinlay, Sheerin, Lovering, Teale, Annand. Subs: McEwan, Sharp, Bradford, Scally, Dodds. Ross County: Anthony Bullock, Perry, Maxwell, Irvine, Robertson, Ferguson, McQuade, Fraser, Steven Mackay, Prest, Holmes. Subs: Cowie, Hislop, McCormick, Webb, Gonet. Referee: H Dallas
