Arbroath 0-6 Airdrie
Six individual scorers netted to send Airdrie on their way to a very comfortable
win at Gayfield.
The visitors opened their account with a tremendous 30-yard strike by Craig McPherson after six minutes. Soon afterwards, the Diamonds doubled their lead when Neil McFarlane crossed for Mark Roberts to head home. Owen Coyle bagged the third goal just after the hour mark when he took advantage of a slip by Steve Fallon. Tony Smith's volley from Roberts' cross after 70 minutes and a header from Steve Taylor a minute later took the score to 5-0. Forward Colin McDonald's strike three minutes from time completed the rout. Arbroath: Hinchcliffe, Fallon, Florence, McKay, McKinnon, Mercer, Heenan, Brownlie, Mallan, McGlashan, McInally. Subs: Bayne, Gardner, McAulay, Cargill, Wight. Airdrie: Bennett, Armstrong, McPherson, Stewart, McManus, James, Beesley, McFarlane, Coyle, Smith, Roberts. Subs: McDonald, Docherty, Dunn, Taylor, A Trialist. Referee: D Somers
