Falkirk 1-2 Ayr United
Ayr boosted their hopes of promotion to the Premier League with a victory at Brockville.

The opening minutes were an end-to-end affair until the visitors opened the scoring in the 16th minute.

Lee Sharp crossed from the right and John Bradford rose at the back post to nod home.

Falkirk started the second half in determined fashion and levelled just three minutes after the re-start.

After a spell of pressure in the visiting box, Kevin McAllister poked the ball to Steven Craig eight yards out and the former Raith player hit a right-foot shot high into the net.

Former Bairn Craig Nelson, in the visitors goal, spectacularly saved a Steven Rennie header two minutes later, but the Honest Men finally killed off the home side in the 61st minute.

Gary Teale raced down the right flank before crossing low into the middle. Eddie Annand took a touch eight yards out that wrong-footed Andy Lawrie before prodding the ball high behind Myles Hoggarth for his ninth League goal of the season.

David Nicholls went close with a 25-yard drive for Falkirk five minutes from the end, but Ayr held out for the points.
