Elgin 1-2 Ross County

ALBA Challenge Cup

Ross County survived a late scare at Third Division Elgin to edge through to the ALBA Challenge Cup second round.

County twice went close early with Mark Corcoran and Scott Boyd both having efforts saved by Elgin's Steven Dunn.

The First Division side forged a deserved two-goal lead through Martin Scott's header and Paul Lawson's 25-yard rocket in the second half.

But Craig Gunn's 82nd-minute thunderbolt for Elgin ensured an anxious finish for the visitors.

Elgin: Steven Dunn, Niven, Dempsie, Kaczan, MacDonald (Millar 46), Jake Inglis (Edwards 76), O'Donoghue, Nicolson, Crooks, Gunn, Frizzel (Cameron 70). Subs Not Used: MacLeod, Robertson.
