Di Giacomo's two goals gave Airdrie the win over the Blue Brazil

Airdrie reached the Challenge Cup semis with a 2-1 win over 10-man Cowdenbeath.

Paul Di Giacomo fired the visitors into the lead from 16 yards from a Stephen McKenna cross early in the second half.

Then with 15 minutes to play, Di Giacomo, signed from Kilmarnock, latched on to a Paul Lovering long ball and beat David Hay from 12 yards.

Cowdenbeath pulled one back four minutes later from a Brian Fairbairn 25-yard free-kick, before captain Mark Baxter was sent off for a foul.
