East Stirlingshire 2-1 Ayr United

East Stirlingshire netted twice in the final four minutes to snatch a home win in the Challenge Cup first round.

Striker Alex Williams gave Ayr United the lead with a diving header on 15 minutes and the Second Division side led at Ochilview until the 86th minute.

Andrew Rodgers then picked up a Brian Graham pass and cut inside before unleashing a low drive beyond stranded keeper Stephen Grindlay.

The home side were without Norwegian defender Carl Thywissen, who has rejected a new contract after deciding to move back to his homeland after four years with Shire.
