Goal of the month is back for the new season - but with a difference.

As you probably know, the BBC are not currently running competitions, which means we can't bring you Goal of the Month in it's usual competition format.

But that doesn't stop us picking a selection of the best goals scored in August. And just to keep an old tradition going, we'll ask one of our pundits to pick their favourite goal.

Remember it's just for fun. Do NOT text or phone in.

And August's best goal, as chosen by Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer, was Charles N'Zogbia's belter for Newcastle against Middlesbrough.
