Man Utd get Wolves in Carling Cup fourth round draw

Liverpool are knocked out by League Two Northmapton

Carling Cup third round highlights

Holders Manchester United have been drawn at home to Wolves in the fourth round of the Carling Cup.

League Two side Northampton, who knocked out Liverpool, are the lowest-ranked side in the competition and will travel to Championship outfit Ipswich.

League One club Brentford knocked out Everton and have been rewarded with a trip to Premier League side Birmingham.

Newcastle will play Arsenal at home and West Ham entertain Stoke in three of the ties between top-flight clubs.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez will welcome former club Swansea to the DW Stadium after the two sides were also drawn together.

Aston Villa will play host to Burnley as West Brom face a tricky trip to Leicester in the other two ties.

Northampton were hoping for a more glamorous tie after their win on penalties over Liverpool.

But manager Ian Sampson said: "We'll go to Ipswich and hopefully we can reproduce the form we've shown at Anfield and Reading.

"We've already knocked a Championship club out so we'll go to Ipswich and try and do the same thing."

Fourth round draw:

Newcastle v Arsenal
Birmingham v Brentford
Wigan v Swansea
Aston Villa v Burnley
Leicester v West Brom
Man Utd v Wolves
West Ham v Stoke
Ipswich v Northampton

Ties to be played on the week commencing 25 October
