Morten Gamst Pedersen finished off Gillingham's Carling Cup challenge as he scored Blackburn's third after Simeon Jackson had pulled a goal back.

Jackson scored from the penalty spot after goals from David Dunn and David Hoilett had put Blackburn ahead.

Dunn pounced on John Nutter's mistake after five minutes and Hoilett added a second with a low shot into the corner.

Jackson stepped up to score from the spot but Pedersen ended any hopes of a comeback, scoring direct from a corner.

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson told BBC Radio Kent:

"The performance was good. I thought the boys showed a passion and desire.

"Sometimes it was difficult because the Blackburn players showed their quality at times by keeping the ball."
