Nottingham Forest booked a place in the second round of the Carling Cup and a home tie with Roy Keane's Sunderland after easing past Morecambe.
Arron Davies hit the post with a header before Chris Cohen put Forest ahead with a low free-kick after loan debutant Lee Martin was fouled.
Robert Earnshaw missed two chances but he slotted in a second and then young substitute Adam Newbold fired home.
Earnshaw ran through to bag his second late on and complete an easy victory.
