Mark Davies' extra-time winner saved Wolves' blushes and ended League Two Accrington's spirited resistance.
Paul Mullin headed Stanley ahead and Chris Iwelumo levelled from close range to take the tie into extra-time.
Iwelumo fired Wolves in to a lead which lasted a minute as Ian Craney beat the offside trap to level.
Davies broke Accrington's heart with a late winner and Stanley's misery was complete when defender Robbie Williams was sent off.
