Julian Joachim's strike put 10-man Darlington into the second round of the Carling Cup, as the League Two side stunned Championship Stoke.

The Quakers had a terrible start as defender Craig James was sent off for a reckless challenge after 12 minutes.

And the Potters took the lead on 29 minutes as Vincent Pericard drove a cross-shot into the corner.

Darlington levelled on half-time with Carlos Logan's drive before Joachim blasted home from 25 yards.
